Nearly everyone I talk to has heard stories about how hypnosis and self-hypnosis really helped people and how it failed to make a difference for others. People want to know, “How can self-hypnosis help one person get over a problem like impotence and fail with another?”
There are two parts to the successful use of self-hypnosis. The first is a real desire to change. If a guy is in a relationship that is making him miserable, impotence isn’t just the least of his problems it is a way of letting him know that he wants out. Self hypnosis may work temporarily, but the problem will probably return until he makes some basic changes.
The second part of successful self-hypnosis comes from communicating with the unconscious mind, The use of images and the proper phrasing of suggestions makes all the difference.
So the answer is, when a person has a real desire to change and the hypnotic suggestions are properly constructed, self-hypnosis is very effective.
The amazing thing about self-hypnosis is that we do it all the time. Hypnosis and self-hypnosis are really just focused attention. Whenever you are concentrating on a task such as watching a TV show, reading a book or communicating on the internet, you are focusing your attention and entering a light hypnotic state that increases the power of your mind. Self-hypnosis channels his power and concentrates it on changing the old programs that produce self-defeating behavior.
Usually during a self-hypnosis session you will feel comfortable and relaxed. Sometime you will enter a deeper state and experience a comfortable drifty feeling sometimes like daydreaming. Some people report that at times they felt like “my mind just went somewhere else for a while. “ This is the experience of deep relaxation and letting the subconscious mind take charge. It is a special time during which your subconscious mind is reorganizing its understandings and developing new abilities. This may last for a few minutes or for just a second or two.
The depth of self-hypnosis doesn’t matter when it comes to therapeutic results. A light relaxed state is as effective as a deeper state. What makes a difference is the extent to which you are open to new understandings and abilities. Good sex and powerful hypnosis have a lot in common. When you just relax and let it happen, you have the most wonderful results.
